Add The Office to the list of shows being put into hibernation by the writer's strike. The show's star Steve Carell has refused to cross the writers' picket line, meaning next week's show will be the last new episode to air for awhile.
Not everybody is staying away from their sets, however. Ellen DeGeneres is still talking. Though she told the studio audience at Tuesday's taping that she loves her writers and "hope[s] they get everything they're asking for," she admitted, "It's 'sweeps', which is a very important time in television. That's when you do your best shows, your funniest material, you pull out all the stops and you're doing everything you can because you want everybody watching... People have traveled across the country. They've made plans. They're here. I want to do everything I can to make your trip enjoyable and give you a show."
