George Helps Out

Our Boy, George Clooney has donated 25-thousand dollars to the Actors Fund. The money is earmarked to provide emergency assistance to industry professionals in need of financial help during the writer's strike.

George says he intends to make periodic donations to the fund, and is calling on his fellow fat-cat movie stars to do the same.

"Danny Ocean" tells Variety, "To people like myself, the strike is a forced vacation, but with the rhetoric high, and two other strikes looming, there is the fear that a prolonged strike can destroy people who make a living in this industry. My hope is that people who can afford it will take responsibility for this and help out."
