from edmonton sun...In a spectacular fall from grace, New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned yesterday, just days after word broke that authorities had linked the former prosecutor known as "Mr. Clean" to high-priced hookers.
"I cannot allow my private failings to disrupt the people's work," said a grim Spitzer, 48, his wife Silda by his side.
"To every New Yorker and to all those who believed in what I tried to stand for, I sincerely apologize."
