Jumper leaped ahead of a pack of new releases to top the weekend box office. The sci-fi thriller, starring Hayden Christensen as a man able to teleport, earned 27-point-two-million dollars between Friday and Sunday.
Three other movies opened in the Top 5. The urban dance sequel Step Up 2 the Streets landed in second with 19-point-seven-million bucks, followed closely by the children's fantasy The Spiderwick Chronicles, which earned 19-point-one-million dollars in third. The romance Definitely, Maybe, starring Ryan Reynolds, opened in fifth with nine-point-seven-million dollars.
Last weekend's number-one movie, Fool's Gold, dropped to fourth. The adventure comedy, starring Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson, earned 13-point-one-million dollars, taking its 10-day total to 42-million
