After some sparring with Simon Cowell over making weird hand gestures, Ryan Seacrest toyed with the boys and then narrowed the targets to Danny Noriega and Jason Yeagar. Jason was sent home to Grand Prairie, Texas singing "Long Train Running." Seacrest turned to the girls, and left Amanda Overmyer and Alexandrea Lushington on the carpet. Lushington got the least votes, and gave a farewell performance of "If You Leave Me Now."
Ryan kept the girls in the hot seats, and turned up the heat on Kady Malloy and Alaina Whitaker. Alaina got cut, broke into tears and was almost unable to do her sing-off. The Idol girls joined her in a show of support, and she summoned the strength to sing "Hopelessly Devoted to You." Seacrest then called Luke Menard and Robbie Carrico to center stage. Carrico was the one to go. He sang out with "Hot Blooded." written by bill mccleary
