No Live Golden Globes
from lee jeske...
N-B-C has decided to cancel Sunday night's telecast of the Golden Globes. But there will be Golden Globe Award-winners announced -- and N-B-C will cover that.
After Dick Clark Productions failed to reach an interim agreement with the Writer's Guild to allow the show to go on with writers -- and with the Screen Actors Guild demanding that its members not cross writers' picket lines -- N-B-C and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association decided to cancel the big event.
However, N-B-C's news division will cover a press conference announcing the winners, preceded by an episode of Dateline featuring clips from the nominated films and movies and interviews with nominees. As for the nominees -- since there won't be a telecast event, they're welcome to stroll a red carpet and attend the various planned after-parties, which will also be covered, Access Hollywood-style, by N-B-C News.
