Weekend Box Office

Enchanted retained its spell over movie-goers as the Disney fairy tale topped the box-office chart for a second weekend in a row. The romance, starring Amy Adams, James MarsdenSusan Sarandon, earned 17-million dollars between Friday and Sunday, raising its total to 70-point-six million. and

The weekend's only new wide release, Awake, opened in fourth with six-million bucks. The thriller stars Hayden Christensen and Jessica Alba.

This Christmas remained in second with eight-point-four-million dollars, Beowulf stayed put in third with seven-point-nine-million, and the video-game adaptation Hitman dropped from fourth to fifth with five-point-eight-million. --James Aquilone
