John Travolta's days as "J-R Ewing" are over before they started, but not before the Hairspray star walked away with a big, fat wad of cash. After two years of sitting around waiting for the big-screen take on Dallas to get off the ground, Travolta "was given a nice seven-figure 'gift' to go away quietly," a source tells the New York Post.
A friend of the actor's tells the paper that producers have "gone in a different direction." Very different -- they've apparently cast Ben Stiller to step into Larry Hagman's cowboy boots and are going for a more comedic take on the vintage series.
