Uncle Kracker Makes a Deal To Avoid Jail

Uncle Kracker pleaded guilty today in a North Carolina court to misdemeanor charges he assaulted a woman in a downtown nightclub after a concert.

The judge sentenced Kracker, whose real name is Matthew Shafer, to 12 months probation and fined him $1,500. Kracker must also undergo an assessment to determine if he's addicted to alcohol.

Not only is that stupid, it's against state law. "Possession of Open Container in Motor Vehicle in California. Section 23223 (b) No passenger shall have in his or her possession, while in a motor vehicle upon a highway or on lands, as described in subdivision (b) of Section 23220, any bottle, can, or other receptacle containing any alcoholic beverage that has been opened or a seal broken, or the contents of which have been partially removed."

Walk On Role Nets $47,000 For Cancer Help!

A man bid 47-grand to win his son a role in a new Will Ferrell movie. An anonymous man from Texas was revealed as the high bidder yesterday in an auction for the role -- a non-speaking part in the film "Step Brothers" which will go to his 10-year-old son.

While the son gets his moment on screen, the man's $$ is going to Cancer for College, a charity run by Craig Pollard, a fraternity brother of Ferrell from their undergraduate days at the University of Southern California and a survivor of Hodgkin's disease.

Not So Fast...Did I say I Quit?

Maya Rudolph will be back on Saturday Night Live after all. After quitting the show on Sunday, Rudolph had a change of heart and decided to re-up with the N-B-C staple for an eighth season.

Paris Hilton is saying she will never do David Letterman's show again after a taping last week that will air tonight.

Letterman was his typical sarcastic self nothing we haven't seen many times before but after the taping ended Paris "Burst into tears." Her publicist told Dave's producer "She'll never do this show again."

I am sure Dave will not sleep well over the whole thing.

MICHAEL JACKSON has secretly wed his children's long-serving nanny according to reports out today. Despite denials from the creepy gloved one's camp, The National Enquirer has printed copies of a new real estate document, in which Jackson states he's married. And now sources close to the King Of Pop have confirmed Jackson wed 40-year-old Grace Rwaramba in Las Vegas earlier this year.

A source tells the Enquirer, "Grace... is one of his dearest friends. She is one of the few people who stood by his side through all of his problems" If true, this is Jackson's third marriage. He was previously wed to Debbie Rowe and Lisa Marie Presley.

HEATHER LOCKLEAR has confirmed she's dating former MELROSE PLACE co-star JACK WAGNER - and has even considered marrying him.

The couple has been linked romantically for the past few months, but both have been keen to deny reports they're dating. Now, Locklear comes clean to People magazine, admitting her romance is "wonderful and exciting and blossoming," adding she feels deserving of something that "feels so right".

Brad Pitt Helping Rebuild New Orleans

BRAD PITT has teamed up with LIZ HURLEY's ex, STEVE BING, to pledge $5 million for a new New Orleans, Louisiana green housing project. The pair's cash will help build 150 new homes in the city's Lower Ninth Ward - the area worst hit by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Pitt and Bing each pledged to match $5 million in contributions to the project. Pitt, whose Make It Right campaign has already funded the first low-cost housing campaign in New Orleans, pledged the extra cash as part of a Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York on Wednesday.

Lacey Part Deux?

They might not want to admit it, but viewers who celebrated Lacey Conner's dismissal from Rock of Love might find themselves sort of missing the element of high drama she added to the show.

Jes and Heather have been – relative to a reality show – fairly nice girls throughout the show, both primarily only acting out due to Lacey's instigation or aggravation. Without Lacey, it seems unlikely that either of them will be much up for dramatic shenanigans in next week's Rock of Love finale; it looks like Bret Michaels is truly in for “Nothin' But a Good Time” when picking between the two.

Much like New York from Flavor of Love and I Love New York, you might find Lacey's personality totally repellent on a personal level, but compulsively watchable as a viewer. When someone is apparently so utterly unconcerned with appearing likable or relatable, it can make for some pretty addictive television.

Bad News from the Set of Next Batman Movie

A special effects technician working on the new Batman film was killed when a vehicle he was in crashed while on a stunt test run in England. The accident happened off-set and there was no filming taking place.

The victim was on a camera truck which was following a stunt vehicle, believed to have been the Batmobile. The accident is under investigation.

Fatone has now offered Spears, who is in the middle of a much-publicized child custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, a place to recuperate out of the spotlight. KIEFER SUTHERLAND was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Hollywood in the early hours this morning. The 24 star was on his way home from a Fox network party when he was pulled over by police on the junction of La Cienega and Beverly at 1.35am after making an illegal U-turn.

I am not much of a gamer, once in a while I play Madden '08 Football but tonight is a HUGE night for "Halo" fans.

At 12:01 tonight, stores are allowed to begin selling the third and supposed final chapter in the Halo series. They are estimating that 4 million copies of the game will be sold within the next thirty days!

I am estimating that you are not going to be seeing some of your co-workers tomorrow and that a few kids may be absent from school as well.

Hogan Knows Better Now

According to TMZ...Nick Hogan has pleaded no contest to going double the speed limit. This particular traffic stop occurred just over two weeks before the 17-year-old crashed his Toyota Supra, seriously injuring a friend.

Hogan was popped August 10 when a Pinellas Park police officer saw him speeding through a construction zone.

This morning, a judge ordered the absent Hogan to pay the maximum fine of $1,000, and to complete a 12-hour Driver Improvement course within 90 days. Hogan was also found guilty of failing to wear a seatbelt and fined $73.50.

Emmy Award winner Kathrine Heigl, has "Knocked Up" out on DVD this Tuesday and has found a book she wants to turn into a film.

GREY'S ANATOMY star KATHERINE HEIGL and her mother are to turn JAQUELINE SHEEHAN's bestseller LOST + FOUND into a new movie after asking the author for the film rights.

Kathrine read the book on a recent vacation and optioned it for her production company Abishag, according to Daily Variety. The book follows the fortunes of a distraught widow who takes a job in a remote Maine animal hospital.

Did Sponsors Avoid Kid Nation?

In an apparent effort to steer clear of the original controversy over Kid Nation, which included charges that the network and the show's producers had skirted child-labor laws, advertisers may have shunned the show's season premiere, resulting in the opening segment running 38 minutes without a single commercial.

A CBS spokeswoman responded that the network has debuted other programs with a light commercial load in the past and that Kid Nation will contain a "regular and full" commercial load when the second episode airs next week.

Richie Back In Rehab

Richie Sambora, has returned to rehab -- this time at the Cirque Lodge in Utah -- the same rehab facility where Lindsay Lohan is currently receiving treatment.

This is the second time this year Sambora's been to rehab. This past June, after the traumatic break-up of his marriage to Heather Locklear and his split from girlfriend Denise Richards, Sambora spent a week at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.

George Clooney in Motorcycle Crash

George Clooney and girlfriend Sarah Larson were treated at the hospital Friday for injuries after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a car in New Jersey, his rep says.

Clooney, 46, suffered a hairline fracture of a rib and road rash, and Larson, 28, suffered a broken foot, says the actor's rep.

They were treated at Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, N.J., and released.

Clooney is in the New York area filming his new movie Burn After Reading, and has been spotted out with new gal pal Larson at restaurants.

KT Passes Up $$

KT TUNSTALL has refused to allow one of her songs to be used in a meat commercial - because she is vegetarian. KT was approached by a Norwegian ham company for permission to use one of her tracks, but despite its money-making potential, the star declined to endorsement.

She says, "I'm a vegetarian. "My manager takes care of these things, but he does tell me everything, because he knows I'll have a good laugh with most of it."
