Evel's Estate Is Going To Be Messy

from contact
A former Hollywood executive attacked by EVEL KNIEVEL 30 years ago is bidding to win back more than $100 million in unpaid damages from the late stuntman's estate.

Shelly Saltman was awarded $12.75 million in 1977 after Knievel shattered his left arm with a baseball bat in a parking lot at 20th Century Studios in Los Angeles. Knievel served six months in prison for the offence, but the money was never collected and has grown to more than $100 million with interest.

And now, following Knievel's death last week at the age of 69, Saltman, 76, is seeking to collect. He says, "We are going hot and heavy after his estate. What he tried to do to me and how it hurt my family, I'm owed that." Saltman, who promoted Knievel's legendary unsuccessful leap over Idaho's Snake River Canyon in 1974, adds, "I've always felt pity for him. Because of this foolish act, he ruined his career."
