Inside Scoop On New American Idol Set

from tmz...
A TMZ spy (and apparent art school dropout) was able to peep the new the stage "Idol" is setting up for the Top 12 and it is a sight to be seen. So here's the sketch and a pic.
American Idol stage
The band is located above the stage, towards the back, with a cityscape backdrop behind them. There are two spiral staircases located on each side of the stage that are connected by a walkway that goes over top of the stage. Each staircase has a landing area at the top with an LCD screen -- probably so Ryan can chat it up with the contestants with a Coke logo over his shoulder.

The judge's area is completely separate from the stage, leaving room for people to stand in front of the stage like at a concert. Our spy says it is all "way bigger" than any set-up "Idol" has used before.

George Clooney Not Get Married!

from contact...
GEORGE CLOONEY has dismissed reports he is to wed his girlfriend SARAH LARSON. George and Larson were alleged to be planning a summer wedding at Clooney's villa in Lake Como, Italy. A restaurant worker in Laglio, near Lake Como, fuelled rumours on Monday when he told the media: "They haven't made any announcement yet, but there are people in this town who know more than me.

They say the couple are already engaged." Clooney and Larson will celebrate their one-year anniversary this June, but it appears the 46-year-old isn't quite ready to give up his bachelor status just yet. In a statement released to WENN on Monday, he says, "These reports are not true." His representative Stan Rosenfield adds, "(There's) no truth to any element of this story."

Tom Cruise Auditions Women

from PageSix....
It is one of Hollywood’s biggest mysteries: Did Tom Cruise actually set up auditions to find a wife? Well, according to ex-Scientologist Marc Headley, abso-Xenu-lutely! Marc, who used to produce promotional films for the religion, spoke to Britain’s News of the World and said that following Tom's split from Penelope Cruz in 2004, the megastar told his BFF (and head of Scientology) David Miscavige that he was having trouble meeting women. So the church sent out a casting call that said, “There’s an upcoming Tom Cruise movie you might get a part in. Come for an audition.” There were of course restrictions: You had to be single, pretty and in your twenties.

While a few female Scientologists were rounded up — Traffic’s Erika Christensen and CSI: Miami's Sofia Milos — they were all rejected as Tom focused his attention on bigger stars. “They went for Jennifer Garner, Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Alba, in that order,” Marc says. “Jennifer and Jessica didn’t bite but Scarlett took the bait and came in for an audition. When she arrived and found out it was the Scientology Center in Hollywood, she freaked out and didn’t do a tape…”

But Katie Holmes popped into the Scientologist's minds because she had previously spoken out about her crush on Tom. “They got her to L.A. and introduced her to Tom. The moment he meets her, he’s enthralled with her and he told Miscavige later, “I knew immediately she was the one,” Marc says.

What??????

Amy Winehouse has been snorting more than the white stuff these days -- she reportedly inhaled a few shots of vodka at London's Bungalow 8 last Thursday. A source tells Britain's Mirror, "Amy was the life and soul -- but even we were shocked by this party trick...

She covered one nostril, titled her head back and sucked the vodka shot down her open nostril though a straw. She threw back her head and reeled in shock and everyone around her looked stunned. She necked the top of the shot and lit the rest with a lighter. Then she grabbed a straw and sucked what was left up her nose."

Heath Ledger's Will

Heath Ledger left all his money and everything he owned to his parents and three sisters. The actor, who died of an accidental drug overdose in January at the age of 28, filed the will in Australia in 2003, two years before he met Michelle Williams, the mother of their two-year-old daughter Matilda.

In a statement, Heath's father Kim says,
"Matilda is our absolute priority and Michelle is an integral part of our family. They will be taken care of and that's how Heath would want it to be." It's not clear exactly how much money Ledger left, but the dispersion of it will be handled in his native Australia.

This Weekend At The Box Office

written by lee jeske...
The distant past showed that it has a big future this weekend as
10-Thousand B-C stormed the box office, hauling in nearly 36-million dollars to dominate the weekend. Roland Emmerich, whose movies usually roll up big numbers (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow), directed this flick.

Another new movie was runner up with Martin Lawrence's College Road Trip pulling in with 14-million bucks.

Vantage Point, starring Dennis Quaid and Matthew Fox, dropped to third in its third weekend. The political thriller has now pulled in more than 50-million dollars after adding seven-and-a-half-million to its total take.

Will Ferrell's basketball comedy Semi-Pro tumbled to fourth in its second week. Semi-Pro's 25-million-dollar take thus far is a disappointment after Ferrell's his last two sports comedies -- Blades of Glory and Talladega Nights -- each earned more than 100-million dollars.

The Bank Job, a British heist thriller starring Jason Stratham and Saffron Burrows, opened in fifth with nearly six-million dollars -- right on the heels of Semi-Pro.

Not A Box Office Hit Here But...

The Golden Compass is about to make box office history -- as the first film to gross 300-million dollars at overseas box offices while never reaching 100-million dollars in North America.

Mayer on Simpson?

John Mayer on his blog has written the following...

"I was sitting in the airport lounge this morning when I started scribbling out lyrics and such…
Don't read too far into this on a personal level. (There are no hidden messages)… I just thought it sums up how crazy love can be.

Dear Ex Lover,
Perhaps you didn't understand the last time I told you to stop contacting me, so I'll do my best to spell it out for you. I do not wish to have you in my life anymore. I don't know how much more clear I can be about it. It would serve you best to move on with your life and find someone who can put up with you, because I'm done trying.
I hope this is enough closure for you.
Goodbye.

P.S. If you need me, you know how to find me."

Last Night On American idol

written by lee jeske...

Four more American Idol wannabes got the boot last night (Thursday), whittling down the competition to the Top 12 contestants.

On the guys' side, Luke Menard and Danny Noriega were sent packing. Luke, whose last performance Simon Cowell thought was "girly," hit the road singing "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go." "Spicy" Danny Noriega, whom Paula Abdul called a "bright light in this competition," was sent back home to Azusa, California singing "Tainted Love." Chikezie Eze also faced elimination but held on for at least one more week.

On the girls' side, Kady Malloy and Asia'h Epperson said goodbye. Kady, whom Simon called "robotic," sang "Who Wants to Live Forever" for her farewell performance. Asia'h, whom Simon called a second-rate WhitneyHouston the night before, brought tears to Paula's eyes with her exit from the show. Asia'h had won over the judges' hearts when she auditioned in Atlanta only two days after her father died in a car accident. She left the show singing "I Want to Dance With Somebody." Kristy Lee Cook staved off elimination. -- James Aquilone

Heath Ledger Diary

In a diary chronicling the last days of his life, Heath Ledger discusses having dinner with Jack Nicholson in London, hitting a New York hotspot and choking down a banana-nut muffin from one of his favorite New York delis as his last meal.

The diary will appear in the upcoming Esquire as "The Last Days of Heath Ledger." Just one more thing -- it's fiction. The article was penned by writer Lisa Taddeo, who was assigned to write a story about the actor's last days -- and decided to write it in his voice. The magazine's editor tells the New York Times that the article won't be mentioned on the issue's cover because "I purposely didn't want it to be seen as exploitative in any way."

Oui Oui

Jim Carrey will play a self-indulgent Frenchman who smuggles a stolen painting out of Paris in the comedy Pierre Pierre, from Juno director Jason Reitman.
