The ladies took the floor last night's for part-two of the two-night premiere of A-B-C's hit reality show Dancing With the Stars, and they definitely gave the men, who danced Monday night, a run for their money.

Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi blew the judges away with a foxtrot that garnered a near perfect score and landed her solidly in first place with Mark Ballas. Actress and entrepreneur Priscilla Presley also bolted out of the box with returning professional Louis van Amstel with a foxtrot that put them in second. Despite her inability to hear the music, actress Marlee Matlin turned in an energetic cha cha cha that positioned her and newcomer Fabian Sanchez in third.

Nerves were definitely a factor for Broadway star Marissa Jaret Winokur, who completely missed dance steps, placing her in fifth, while Monica Seles landed in last place -- proving that grace on the tennis court doesn't necessarily translate to the dance floor. Actress Shannon Elizabeth, who came in fourth, could be a dark horse in the competition if, as the judges advised, she can get her long, shapely legs under control.

George Clooney and co-star Renee Zellweger will attend a red-carpet premiere of their "Leatherheads" movie Monday night in Maysville, Ky., about 60 miles east of Cincinnati.

Clooney, 46, who went to high school in nearby Augusta, is the star, director and producer of the romantic comedy about 1920s pro football.

Universal Pictures announced the screening late Tuesday. Universal representatives had scouted Maysville two weeks ago. The film opens nationwide 11 days later, on April 4.

The premiere is invitation only in the 471-seat Washington Opera House in downtown Maysville.

People will be allowed to stand along the red carpet, like at the Oscars, and wave to the celebrities, a Universal representative said.

Celebrities are scheduled to arrive at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. screening at the theater, 116 W. 2nd St.

Doctor Seuss's Horton Hears a Who stamped its way to the top of the weekend box office. The computer-animated movie, about an elephant who discovers a tiny planet of "Whos," earned 45-point-one-million dollars in its first three days of release, the best opening of the year. The flick features the voices of Jim Carrey and Steve Carell.

Last weekend's number-one movie, 10-Thousand B-C, slipped to second with 16-point-four-million dollars. The prehistoric action movie has made 61-point-two-million bucks in 10 days.

The season premiere of Dancing with the Stars is tonight and Mark Ballas can’t wait. The pro dancer, who teamed up with Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan last year, says he’s excited for fans to see him and his new partner, Kristy Yamaguchi, perform.

“She’s an amazing athlete,” Ballas says of the Olympic gold medal figure skater. “She’s very pretty to watch in the ballroom.”

The band is located above the stage, towards the back, with a cityscape backdrop behind them. There are two spiral staircases located on each side of the stage that are connected by a walkway that goes over top of the stage. Each staircase has a landing area at the top with an LCD screen -- probably so Ryan can chat it up with the contestants with a Coke logo over his shoulder.

The judge's area is completely separate from the stage, leaving room for people to stand in front of the stage like at a concert. Our spy says it is all "way bigger" than any set-up "Idol" has used before.

Four more American Idol wannabes got the boot last night (Thursday), whittling down the competition to the Top 12 contestants.

On the guys' side, Luke Menard and Danny Noriega were sent packing. Luke, whose last performance Simon Cowell thought was "girly," hit the road singing "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go." "Spicy" Danny Noriega, whom Paula Abdul called a "bright light in this competition," was sent back home to Azusa, California singing "Tainted Love." Chikezie Eze also faced elimination but held on for at least one more week.

On the girls' side, Kady Malloy and Asia'h Epperson said goodbye. Kady, whom Simon called "robotic," sang "Who Wants to Live Forever" for her farewell performance. American Idol's Top 8 girls took on the songs of the '80s during last night's competition.

Asia'h Epperson started the show with "I Want to Dance With Somebody." Randy JacksonPaula Abdul added, "You nailed it." Simon Cowell brought Asia'h back down to Earth by saying, "At best, it was second-rate Whitney Houston." said, "That was hot."

Kady Malloy belted out the Queen song "Who Wants to Live Forever" from the Highlander movie. Randy thought it was an interesting song choice. Paula said, "To date, this was your best performance." Simon slammed her. "I'm still having issues with your massive lack of personality. You're like a robot when you sing."

Amanda Overmyer impressed all the judges with her rocking version of "I Hate Myself for Loving You." Randy said, "Well done, baby." Paula said, "You found your niche." Simon gushed, "I thought it was fantastic. You absolutely nailed that song... It was one of my favorite girl performances of the entire part of this competition."

Irish singer Carly Smithson sang "I Drove All Night." Randy said, "You keep smashing it every week. Dude, another great performance." Paula likened Carly to a "dependable dog" for her consistently solid performances. Simon took issue with her choice of song. "I didn't like it. You're a million times better than that song."

Kristy Lee Cook did a country version of Journey's "Faithfully." Randy liked the arrangement. Paula said, "That could be a hit for you in country music." Simon wasn't impressed. "I still think your problem is you're forgettable. At best, I can see you coming in 10th."

Ramiele Malubay fell flat with a version of Phil Collin's "Against All Odds." Randy said, "I thought it was a pretty good vocal, but find that confidence again." Paula, after much rambling, said, "You deserve to be in the Top 12." Simon thought it was old-fashioned and predictable.

Brooke White did a folky take on the Pat Benatar song "Love Is a Battlefield." Randy said, "I don't know if you brought anything new to the song, but it was definitely interesting." Billy Ray Cyrus picks out daughter Miley's outfits before she even gets to see them, according to Internet gossip maven Janet Charlton. Charlton says Billy Ray even puts the kibosh on anything he deems inappropriate and that Miley's stylists believe she would be surprised by the clothes Billy Ray gives the thumbs-down.

Miley has been named one of Entertainment Weekly's Top 30 actresses under 30, joining such stars as Kirsten Dunst, Evangeline Lilly and Anne Hathaway among others.

American Idol star Simon Cowell spoke with Britain's Mirror at his Hollywood mansion recently, and gave the tabloid an earful about one celebrity who's never even been on the show. "Britney [Spears] has brought this on herself. I think she's manipulated the whole thing. I've heard she won't leave the house until there are enough photographers there." While saying he "hated" Britney's last album, Simon says he's got more sympathy for Grammy-winning soul singer Amy Winehouse. He calls her "an amazing talent. If I had been managing her I would have got her into rehab from day one. Then maybe none of this nonsense would have happened."

The 48-year-old also discussed Terri Seymour, his girlfriend of five years, and explained why he has no intention of making their relationship permanent -- he's afraid she'll "do a Heather Mills on him" and take all his hard-earned money. "I don't believe in marriage, certainly not in this business. You get married and in a year or two they clean you out! We have contracts with artists that are 120 pages long and last five years. Then you go into marriage with no contract and the laws are a thousand years old. It doesn't work."

Simon also let slip to Britain's Glamour magazine that last year he turned down a two-million-dollar offer to be a spokesman for Viagra, calling it "an insult." Whether he meant the money or the implication was not made clear.

Weekend Box Office

Will Ferrell's latest sports spoof, Semi-Pro, was a slam-dunk at the weekend box office. The basketball comedy, also starring Woody Harrelson, was the number-one movie in the country with 15-point-two-million dollars in its first three days of release.

The only other movie to open in the Top 5, The Other Boleyn Girl, earned eight-point-three-million dollars. The period drama, starring Natalie Portman and ScarlettJohansson, landed in fourth despite playing in only 12-hundred theaters.

The political thriller Vantage Point, starring Dennis Quaid and Matthew Fox, slipped from first to second with 13-million dollars. Its 10-day total stands at 41 million.

The children's fantasy The Spiderwick Chronicles was third with eight-point-eight-million bucks.

The sci-fi thriller Jumper was fifth with seven-point-six million dollars.

And the weekend's other new release, Penelope, starring Christina Ricci, opened in eighth with four-million dollars.
